God's Mercy Awaits
We pray together that all may experience the love of God through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Only 7% of Catholics regularly receive Confession.
The Problem
The regular reception of the Sacrament of Confession has been on the decline for decades and now only 7% of Catholics regularly receive the Sacrament.
The decline began in the 1960s
There are many reasons for the decline
Individuals are looking elsewhere for confession
The Plan
As a response, The Jonah Plan was created to support individuals and groups with the hope that all Catholics will regularly receive God's Mercy in their lives.
We pray for the restoration and renewal of individuals and communities, especially our parishes
We provide resources and support
We invite all to experience God's Mercy
"...What counts most is to make people understand that in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, whatever the sin committed, if it is humbly recognized and the person involved turns with trust to the priest-confessor, he or she never fails to experience the soothing joy of God's forgiveness."
Pope Benedict XVI
The Jonah Plan is an apostolate in the Catholic Church.
Formed by Paula Trimble in 2022, the Jonah Plan is an initiative whose aim is renewal of the Church through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Our goal is to increase awareness and reception of Confession.
True renewal of individuals, families, parishes, countries and the world must begin with a turning back to God. We cannot begin renewal until we are reconciled - primarily to God and then to others.
We build parish prayer groups and gather resources.
Jonah Plan forms "cells" of like-minded individuals who will join together to pray for this intention of renewal through reconciliation.
